As part of "Hamdan Bin Mohammed School Games Tournament", the final stages of U 12 Handball & Basketball Competitions are scheduled Tuesday 8th & Thursday 10th May 2012.
The Tournament is organized by Dubai Sports Council, for the third successive year, in coordination with Dubai Education Zone.
The Tournament is part of DSC's initiatives to support Dubai Government strategic plan / cope with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the Vice President & Prime Minster of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aiming to boost schools sport as base for the sports pyramid / implement directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai & Chairman of DSC, who has stressed that respective bodies to focus on schools sports & junior's sectors – the real source of talents.
Dubai National School (Barsha), Dubai International School (Garhoud), Imam Abu Hanifa School & Dubai International School (Nad Al-Shiba) presented distinctive performance in first stages of Handball Competition – took place at Al-Nasr Indoor Pitch with massive participation of governmental & private schools – and have thus qualified to the final stage, to be launched Tuesday 8th May 2012 at Al-Safa Indoor Pitch.
On the other hand, Al-Muhalab School, Dubai National School (Barsha), Ettihad Private School (Al-Mamzar) & Dubai International School (Nad Al-Shiba) have qualified to final stage of Basketball Competition, to be launched Thursday 10th May 2012 at 09:00 am at Al-Ahli Indoor Pitch.
DSC has announced that financial rewards to be increased / further sports games to be added to both male & female competitions. Handball game has been added to male competition beside football, basketball, volleyball, swimming, road races & athletic games.
Badminton game is decided to be added to female competitions beside table tennis, road race & athletic games, basketball & volleyball, taking into consideration that the competition to be joined by local students of U 11, 15 & 18 years old.
It is worth-mentioning that the Tournament is joined by students, who are not recruited in clubs aiming to allow juniors' coaches & scouts to discover new talents.
The Tournament also enables students to join fair competitions / attain creativity & achievements in various individual & team sports games / boost social ties.
